Meet Turtle, a 7-year-old, 16.0 hand chestnut half draft gelding with a personality that will keep you smiling. This gentle giant is not only a beautiful mover but also incredibly consistent, no matter how much or how little you ride him he is always the same. Turtle is always the first to be caught in the pasture, showcasing his friendly and approachable nature. He is extra gentle and rides one-handed with ease. He transitions smoothly through walk, trot, lope, or canter by voice command and leg. Turtle and has a big stop when asked, but is happy to transition down through the gaits too! Turtle is truly versatile, making him a joy to ride for any level or style of rider.
Turtle’s confidence shines out on the trail. He crosses water, bridges, logs, brush, and bogs, without hesitation. Turtle is happy to enjoy a solo trail ride, lead a group, or follow the pack. Where ever you put Turtle he’ll stay.Turtle's experienced out on the ranch too. He has done all the ranch chores including sorting in alleys, gathering pastures, loading trucks and penning back cattle at the sale barn. Turtle takes the chaos of the sale barn like it’s a beach in the Caribbean!
Turtle can side pass, turn on his haunches or forehand and lope on either lead from a standstill. He is truly one hand broke, but is happy to go into an English bridle and direct rein too. He has a soft mouth and works well off your seat, leg, and hands. Turtle is willing and capable and everything you teach him he remembers! Turtle has spent regular time under English and has been to the fox hunting field, hunter paces, and cross country courses. Turtle is very clever with his strides and does he very best to get his rider up and over, no matter where he’s rider puts him.
Turtle is no stranger to the circus either. He’ll pull a sled, push a yoga ball, tolerate crazy border collies trying to herd him, and pack a flag. You can’t hardly find anything that you can’t throw at Turtle. Turtle also has a few tricks up his sleeve! He’ll side pass to the mounting block, fence, log, or trailer fender for easy mounting or lay him down!
Turtle is the perfect companion for all horse lovers! Turtle's funny personality adds a special charm to his character. He's known for his playful antics and the way he engages with everyone. Turtle has never met a stranger! His easygoing nature makes him a favorite in the barn, and his willingness to please ensures that he always puts in his best effort. Whether you're headed out for a leisurely trail ride, need a dependable partner for ranch work, or want to spend the day chasing the hounds Turtle's got you covered.
